Hi guys and girls we are thinking about cruising this area over the easter weekend. will proberly put in at tin can bay if anybody has any info on this area it would be most welcome.

Spent a week at Poona in Dec. Beautiful spot with a good ramp. Need to come and go at better than half tide though, and I suspect Tin Can Bay is the same.

If you like diver whiting you can rack up a tally like a cricket score. The locals talk about mackerel in the channel at this time of the year, but I didnt get a chance to get out there.

The ramp at Tin Can Bay is great in all conditions, very protected and a good channel. A short drive to Inskip Point and theres another ramp. Not great, still useable though, but DO NOT ATTEMPT on a LOW tide. We nearly lost the car (Hyandai Terracan) trying to retrieve our 5.4m Tinny on a low tide

head up the straits to just south of yankee jacks creek

you will find a set of coffee rock ledges dropping away from the island

this is a great spot to anchor up for the night the fishing aloing these ledges can be amazing, jew parrot threadfin blackall goldies etc
