Mackerel In August

Hi fellas

Just lookin throught the august issue of the fishing monthly and it is sayin that august is a great time to get into the school mackerel.I was just wantin to no some good spots to try for these in the bay closer to shore as im only in a tinnie

any info would be great

Where bout are they mate i am located near scarbrough soo yea in the bay put round there some where would be great

mate if you head out of scarbrough harbor and head to the scarbrough reefs then head north there is a big white beacon that might be worth a bash was some good fish on the sounder the last time i was there.brad

the water still may be a bit cool but worth a try

i'm no expert mack fisherman, but when in doubt, hit the beacons......

moreton bay beacons is all ive got

have caught plenty on small metals there though

don't forget to use light wire or gang hooks as their teeth will cut you off

Thanks fellas will head out next weekend what bait do you guys use i was thinkin just pilles and maybe flickin round some lures

pop onto the coastwatch site and look at the ol fishing vids. they have a few which are good to watch when ya got nothing doing. there's one showing a guy fishing the four beacons flicking pillies..makes ya wanna give it go tho

mate what is the best wire and size dont like to use wire trace much but if it gets the fish will give it a go.brad

brad i use 27lb single strand wire

Thanks fellas i think i got some 40lb or 60lb wire there and some 5/0 gang hooks should do it i think [i hope] .Will get on and have alook at the video mate will look at it friday night and head out saturday hahaha
