How far up river for the Bass, I herd Currumbin is fishing well for Bass recently

hey guys, im going up to my beach house at currumbin for the whole school hols. you guys are locals so i was just wonderin if you knew how far up the creek you need to go to find the bass. i have only ever fished the saltwater. i have a kayak btw. thanks

Sweet rig.. that hole your fishing at the mouth of that canal goes off at night in summer. i live across the road from the boat ramp. Wou;d love to come fishing with ya sometime. show you some great jack spots up the creek

In complete honesty the best fishing is done on foot.More than happy to show you where when u get up here.

sweet well id love to give it a shot. ive been doing heaps of surface fishing on the flats for whiting and flathead and bream to try something different; but id love to give some bass and jacks a go.

i am not sure if this is correct, but is bass fishing deemed as illegal right now???

so why even bother trying to catch and release them.

a bit like throwing stones in glass houses i think!!. but check if you intend to chase the bass as it's breeding season now i believe.

its illegal to keep them, not illegal to fish for them though

up to the individual i guess i would leave em alone personally, but i really dont know much about bass c&r and how it affects their breeding so i cant really comment lol

The wording of the act is that it is illegal to " possess or take" I am waiting for clarification or the word take. When does the act of taking a fish actually commence? when you hook it or remove it from the water?

The old act actually said that it was illegal to target them but this was omitted by sloppy legislation.

In the meantime please leave them alone during closed season.

huh... Not sure where your coming from with that as i never target wild bass during spawning season. on top of that bass that stay in fresh water do not breed so my advice is leave the brackish water fish alone and hit the ones in the fresh

Unless you are fishing in one of the nominated stocked impoundments it is illegal to take bass during the closed season. Doesnt matter if its in fresh,brackish or salt.

its not illegal in qld.. morally its not right and i sure wouldnt do it but there are people out there like brad smith who will. it should be made illegal here in qld

Back on subject matter - I'll be fishing Saturday and Sunday - predawn until around 10am or until my a$$ falls asleep.. Dont have a plan set in stone yet so open to suggestions but as long as it involves a line in the water Im in. Everyone welcome!
