UHF......

Hi all i'm in the market for a new UHF and arial.

what are your thoughts on the best UHF to buy, uniden, GME, icom etc....

What do have in the car/boat etc....

I,ve got a cobra was a fair bit cheaper when I got it as they were breaking into the Aus market, has been faultless for 4 odd years

Kenwood / Motorola are top shelf gear, then I reckon the Icom is a pretty good unit. Unidens have a lot of features for the price, but not the most rugged of systems.

check out the raymarine units they are pretty impresive

uniden, GME, have been good for me but mine are very old ones .

from the days u could play with them and anything standard was not good enough .

cause no1 wanted to be a mud duck back then .

memories ... had a cobra modified to scan from 26 meg to 28 meg to get all the marine and cb chanels

i got a old GE she covers mid 26 to mid 28.

puts out 12 watts

I won't mention what my motorola puts out on UHF.....

buy a icom 208 h remove the 2 resistors with a soldering iron and you have a uhf radio u can tx on, and everywhere else you want to listen between 100mhz - 900mhz uhf it does 5 watts 15 watts and 50 watts. it does tx everywhere else but u need to keep that in mind it does uhf cb radio and alot more and costs $389.00 pluss delivery from down south, do a search on the radio and for the $$$$$ you will not find a better radio and if you do please let me knoe i have been in the game for many years with radio. for fishing thats another story lol....
