cast netting

hi guys

quick question

i am looking at getting a cast net but i am not sure of what the rules are regarding what to keep

i watched a couple of young kids throw a cast net the other day and they keep the prawns which i thought was alright but then they had some small fish in a couple of casts and to my astonishment they were just leaving the little fish on the side of the bank

and not throwing them back

this arked me up so i had a go at them then they just walked away so i ended up throwing the fish back in

can anyone help me on this

All depends on the fish mate.... But yeah if its not legal its gotta go back.

Always getting little bream and that kinda thing in mine, and first thing I do before I even get any of the prawns/poddy mullet/otherbait out is throw all the non-legals back. Gotta preserve the future...

As for letting the fish suffocate or whatever, pretty sure you've gotta kill them humanely even if you're gonna keep them...

I've never really kept a fish from a cast net that I wasn't gonna use for live bait anyway

Basically same rules apply as line fishing. If its under legal size it has to go back.

If it has no legal size then yuo can keep it ( livies )
