THROWING A CAST NET ANY TIPS?? OR GOOD WEBSITES.

Hi Guys,

Seems live bait is the go for what im after, just bought a cast net from BCF and have it soaking in fabric softener as per the instructions to relax the net.

Can anyone recommend any techniques or good websites that might be able to help me get a good cast out?

what i recommend ,keep your technique simple and practice in the back yard .

How big is the cast net? IMO some throwing techniques aren't as easy on some of the smaller cast nets (ie 6') as they are on the larger nets and vice versa.

I think nuggetfishing has some good instructional videos

back that up about the back yard also I found some pictures step by step on the net I think they were from a fishing tackle shop in Noosaville, "Davos" I bought mine there and the bloke was great gave me a demo

Try to look around on youtube at all the different ways to throw it then try them - find which works best for you then just get some practice in the back yard

Yeah youtube is the go for starters.

There are a few ways of doing it so try em out pick a favourite and practice it.

I'm still pretty average at it but wander down to the park at times and do some practice.

Ended up choosing this one as thought it would be easier from the boat and no wet net over the shoulder or in the mouth LOL.

I ended up choosing this one here for my 10' net, I actually got shown by my grandad first before I found this video. You do get a little wet though

[edit]For some reason I can't throw my 6' net very well this way though. Might not have enough 'net' to sling around the elbow and to hold in the hand.

generally speaking the heavier the net the easier it is to open

i use the method in the 1st youtube vid linked there (or did, when i used to throw a net) and found it easiest on a big heavy 11' drawstring net

try ray's video on the video section of the website i use this but instead of bunching it in my left as well i just grab the edge if you r in my area i can show you and also i have a 7 foot castnet from bcf
