Outboard Stand Ideas??

Hey guys, I've searched the forum but it's not showing any posts on motor stands so i thought i'd start one.

I'm not real keen on buying a stand cause they all look pretty exy. I've got a merc 25hp that i need to pull off and store while i'm leccy fishin.

So i was thinking of building a stand for it.

Who's got some ideas?? Any pics of you're own stands would be a great help so i can just rip off your designs

Yeah just use an old removalist trolley and mount a good lump of timber to the top of it too support the motor mount, then you can wheel it where you like .

I hang mine off the side of my trailer or truck when its off the boat.

Welding trollies work well, with a lump of timber bolted on top for support, BOC Oxley have good trollies or wherever else have welding gear.

here is mine .

its a old bent trolley .

it works ok for a small motor.

and a bit of wood.

guess u will need a bigger ,better ,heavier trolley for a 25.

the trolley not bent from the outboard .

from putting a 6 cyc falcon motor on it .

oh and the kids using the trolleys to race around the yard .

I've thought of using a moving trolley, but i'm not sure the plate at the bottom would hold it upright enough.

You are right, the plate at the bottom is not ideal to hold it upright.

I had a 15hp I used to mount on a removalist trolley as we wheeled it from the caravan down to the tinnie in the water, but the plate at the base of the trolley had to have a piece of timber put under to make the trolley have a bit of a backwards lean due to the weight hanging forward and high up on the trolley.
