Is it a single or 2 speed? What brand braid did you go with?

Beastmaster are a great value, near indestructible rod.

Next thing you need is a gimble belt so its easier to hold on.

Single speed cant remember the name of the braid but it cost $100 which I suppose isnt expensive, already got the belt Dhess just need a big enough fish to use it on. Loaded the braid on tonight have to see you about how to fit the mounting bracket then its ready to go :fishing:

Great set-up there boss, just be careful. I've heard the drag lever and cam 'button' on those Shimanos' are made of plastic. Should never be a drama, but something to be mindful of

Like you said it should never be an issue as no pressure gets placed on theose components. All the pressure goes on the drag cam which is brass.

Even if either one of them failed it would cost peanuts to replace.

Peanuts are peanuts I guess. Just thought I'd mention it. Funny how most modern reels use some kind of high impact plastic here and there. I know my saltist has a few bits on the rotor arms, etc

the Australian Defence Force's main assault rifle is partly made by tupperware. at least the Austrian original is. as Dhess said, there is no pressure on them, i doubt even dropping it would break anything!

i have the open faced 16 and even though i haven't used it, it feels great and those huge drag washers are so smooth, can't wait till i can find a boat owning mate willing to chase some small beakies come the summer run!
