Best way to mark pots

Hi all, just wondering whats the best method to mark crab pots...I have tried using perm ink marker on the float, on plastic squares, and even put contact on the plastic squares but find that over a weekend the writing comes off. Just wondering what other "more permanent" methods other AFO members use?

i have ingraved/stamped stainless steel tags on mine

You could try using a paint pen instead of a marker, or the best I have seen is use a hot soldering iron to engrave details into plastic tags.

Hi Andrew.....I use old cd or dvd with a hole drilled 12mm in from each edge and cable tied on to top of pot. Marked with fine a point Nikko permanent marker. The ink seems to get in the striations on the surface of the cd or dvd. Mine usually last a full season before a touch up is needed. Regards Mark

Aluminium, or copper plate and stamp ya detail on either with letter stamps or a nail punch.

Thanks everyone, some great ideas there, will definately go with the stainless steel engravin for the long term, but for tomorrows and saturdays session will go with the old cd/dvd idea.
