Modify my tinnie

Hey guys just wondering if anyone knows were to get a throttle and steering setup from and maybe how much it would cost for DIY. Thinking of putting a small centre console setup on my tinnie.

It depends on the age of your motor if it is a late model you are pretty well at the mercy of the dealers. If its a few years old try some of the outboard wreckers and ebay. A push pull cable steering setup complete with wheel went on ebay last week for $80 which I thought was a good buy. Get hild of a bias boating catalogue to get an idea of what you will require and costs. If your motor is under 40hp I personally would stick with the tiller steering and enjoy the extra room in the boat.

Just did a quick look at ebay and a full set of remotes including cables,wireing loom and key seems to go for between 150 to 200. One guy says a new set for a johnson is wirth over $500.

Looking at Bias catalogue you wont get any change from $250 for a mechanical steering setup and thats looking at last years price list.

Then you have the price of a console.

If it was me I would go for a side console and keep all the extra room down one side of the boat.
