Pilli ? Sardine?

Just wonder if the pilchard is actually sardine? I saw pics of sardine which look extremely like the pilli in tackle shops.

yeah I see the same thing in the markets when Im buying them, they're called sardines guess I never knew I was actually eating pillies

just to let you know i dont eat them anymore just when i was a little child (in the rectangular cans) but from what i remember they weren't so bad but know that i did eat them and now using them as bait is kinda funny.

Yup same critter, pilchard is the bait name and sardine is the much more palatable big business human consumption name :woohoo: One of those little marketing things like calling something calamari insteead of squid so people dont spew.

Also if you enjoy eating Kippers in restaurants they are just butterflied pilchards.
