Surf Fishing, [Soft plastics]

Hi guys, My all time favourate fishing is Surf fishing.

So the question is can you use soft plastics for surf fishing and is it worth your time?

Just asking your thoughts and knowledge on the said topic,

is it possible? is it practical? is it cheap

so pick your brains and have a chat about it

yeah mate its great fun to target the clean flathead and bream that inhabit the close in shore wave action. i just use my small bream flick stick. 3lb main and 6lb leader....

wow so light im not judging as im only new to plastics

but im running 6lb with 10lb leader ill keep that in mind

any areas that you would suggest im thinkin of heading to coloundra or broadwater in a few weeks

+1 for flatties in the surf. Well worth a go with an armour shad or similar. Also have caught dart and whiting on damiki rippers and gulp worms.

Yeah okuma does an 8ft 2-6lb celilo which makes for an awesome light plastic rod.

Shimano also does a slightly heavier catana coastal in 9 or 10 ft model.

I have it on good authority that gary howard rods are about to bring out a coastal rock/surf rod sometime soon.

Love using plastics in the surf.

Check my various Straddy reports for ideas as there is a fair bit of surn fishing in them.

Damiki Ripperz and the good old Armour Shad are both gun for the the surf.

What size/colour do you prefer in the surf, keeping in mind i will be onshore

I'd start with the rippers in skin blue, also 3inch armour shads in that colour. 5inch are also worth a crack for flatties, try the moebi in this size...
