I was just seeing if anyone knows how much water should be coming out of a teltail on a 15hp at full speed, should it be a weaker flow than the motor at idle or low speeds? thanks

As long as water is coming out I wouldn't worry too much.

yes i agree, also the water pressure and flow will be greater when running at higher rpm than at idle

Yea mate the impeller runs off the drive shaft, so more revs equals faster spinning giving stronger flow. A worn impeller will give a weaker flow though.

Water should never dribble out, but be a defined stream when at idle and be the same stream with some pressure when at wot.

The outlet can get blocked too causing a dribble so check it and adjoining pipe.

Should the water be hot? warm? cold?

Its a fairly quick reticulation of the water and therefore I would say that the water should not get much heat at all in it.

I have just had the impeller replaced on my Merc 40hp and after a few minutes of idle flushing out, the water on has the chill taken off it. The water coming out of the centre of the prop (exhaust area) is a little warmer though.

Thanks for the input guys, my 15 was serviced recently and when I took it out the water flow became weaker when at higher speeds, no blockage or anything, haven't had much to do with small outboards so I'm not sure if this was right or not,
