Lead Free Sinkers

Was down at Big W this morning to buy \"she who thinks she must be obeyed (My Daughter, let her find her own sucker! I am her mothers) a new bike seat, when I just happened to wander through the fishing section and found these.

They are supposed to biodegrade to harmless materials. (Does not say what they are made of though).

These ones were 7.5grams and were $6 for 65. They were the smallest they had, but went through to much bigger ones.

Dunno if you would use them as a running sinker, they are a fair bit larger than the same weight lead sinker, but perfect for Paternoster rigs for Bass! (Standard 35mm lens cap in picture for perspective)Baroon is lead free, an dI have scrounged every free nut for a mile to use as sinkers so these will be good value.

I'll give Ray a handful to try out this week.

I have some nice coloured ones, lead free purchased from a small tackle shop at Redcliffe by my mate.

The fancy colours don't make them bite any better.,. they also come in handy for Baroon. Just as well the heads on the spinnerbaits are lead free [he he ]

I've got lots of small lead free jig heads from canada on Ebay., they use bismuth, almost as heavly as lead. Very expensive in the bigger sizes though, because of the postage and Bismuth is a lot dearer than lead!

so how long can you keep them in the water before they waste away to nothing. I use the same sinker everytime until it gets snagged....but i never get snagged because i use a paternoster
