For general estuary luring I wouldn't like to go over a 2500 size reel. You could go bigger if you were just trolling but for ease and comfort the 2500 is a good size. The reel sizes don't really mean much other than where the reel sits in the particular manufacturers size range, it's just a designation and all manufacturers will be different.

A 4000 series reel compared to the 2500 will hold more line, it caters for larger breaking strains to be spooled, obviously will weigh a little more but in most cases will also have increased drag pressure i.e. sienna 2500 3kgs drags the 4000 is 6kgs

It will also have a different gear ratio which will affect how much line can be retrieved with each wind of the reel
