Droping soft pastic

Hi all,

Just got back from a session at Jacods well. Landed 2 flathead 62cm and 35cm. Had 4 other hook ups which after playing the fish for awhile and keeping the tension on the line the fish seem to spit the SP. Any suggestions what is happening? After the fish would take the SP id pull back to set the hooks but they seemed to get loose. Was using 4 inch with 1/4 jig heads, threading the hook throug the centre of the SP. Do some of you thread the hook above the middle of the SP so the hook is more expose or will this limit hits?

Thanks for the advice guys!

not sure what technique you are using but the trick is to keep a little slack on the line after jigging and let the lure float back to the bottom. The idea is that when the flatties hit it they suck the lure into their mouths and if there's slack they can suck it further, thus resulting in a better hookup.

Sharp Hooks !!

Especially when chasing Flathead sharp hooks are of the up most importance and to make sure that you strike even if the fish seems hooked and or pump 2 or 3 times after the first run.

Check/sharpen hooks after a couple of hook ups/misses and don't rely on sharpness straight from the packet as sum brands pack 6 or more jig heads into a small plastic container and with all that extra room allows them to move freely which is just asking for dull points..

A good quality sharp hook deserves to be packaged on its own !!!
