queensland A day on the pine

Fished the pine yesterday. Very slow day overall but managed 5 flatties and a tailor between my mate Jono and I (I got 4 flatties and the tailor, poor ol Jono). Annoyingly I dropped 3 pretty close to the boat, one would have been a 60+; a certain pb. Kept one for a feed, it was the first time I've kept a flathead haha. Yum.

I always struggle on the pine but I am gradually catching more and more each session which keeps me going back (also seeing plenty of photos of monster lizards and jewies and the likes caught in the pine floating around.)

I mainly fish the banks and drop offs between the dohles rocks ramp to the mouth and drift up and down (sometimes right up the middle of the river) with usually not too much success, and after a while try my luck a little further upstream.

Very frustrating.

I know my time on the water will pay off one day.

I think it is a case of inexperience rather than the fishing techniques and gear used, so that is another reason why I keep going back to the pine so I can get my hours up on the water!

Well done Sam.Try just inside the mouth of bald hill creek I used to get some good flatties in there, casting or trolling both work.

Thanks Dino, I always give the mouth of bald hills creek a fair crack picking 2 up there yesterday. might have to venture a little further up there though. Cheers

Creek is in the middle with good flats either side, further up the creek there are some moored boats, they usualy have a few bream hanging around them.
