For those of you whom are not ANSA members - Got this in the mail today. Sounds like a good excuse for a social!

Every year ANSA holds it's annual tournament. The reality is it has been poorly promoted and attended over the years and this year we want to see that change. In fact we have made it a lot easier with major changes to simplify the rule.

The species challenge is an event where the ANSA membership can help us promote fishing and all you have to do is what you love to do.

We have a goal in mind, we want 500 Fishers across the state to join in this event. We want as many ANSA people as possible registered for the event, organising social events as well if you want and sending us photos on the day so we can show the world that fishing is a great sport and a great way to meet people.

This year you MUST register because we need to track numbers and plan what sort of help we will need to have on hand during the day. There will be a phone manned during the weekend and updates posted as often as possible on facebook.

For the first time ever NON ANSA Members can also fish in the tournament, as long as they pay the temporary membership fee, so if you have some fishing friends that aren't currently in ANSA, why not invite them along.

So, even if you can only fish for half an hour, please - register, take some photos of yourself in action and even if you don't catch a fish send them to us so we can share what the ANSA members know better than anyone:

Fishing is fun, and we want more people to join in.

You can register for the event via this link: http://www.ansaqld.com.au/species-challenge/

What’s the Species Challenge about?

The species challenge is all about getting out for a fish even if it's only half an hour, having a great time and testing out your skills against a range of species.

Who can participate?

ANYONE! Open to any sportfisher, you don’t have to be an existing ANSA member.

What do I do?

Register, then catch as many different species as possible over the two days! One fish of each species can be entered. On the challenge weekend, submit your catches online, through email, or via toll-free phone number. Where possible, photos are required for verification. Results will be tallied and available online through the event.
