queensland Stonefish And A Lure

Went fishing this morning to Scarborough harbour got up early and was confident of getting a few. After 3 casts with the new lure thought I was snagged, walked along the rock wall to try and unsnag the new lure and realised there was a fish on the end, reeled it in to find a stonefish on the end, having left my lip grips at home and wanting my brand new $30 lure back I hesitantly tried to get the lure back, which was only just hook in its lip, pulled the line back trying to keep away from the nasty parts of the fish and it gave a kick, and I **** myself with lure spitting back at me to impale into my thumb and finger. Off to the hospital it was

Ouch!!!! Nasty. Bad luck getting 2 hooks in! I bet your glad the stone fish came off or you would be in a crazy pickle!!

They had to push the hooks through, rather then pulling out the way they went in. Worst part was the fishing session only lasted 30 minutes. Straight back into it tomorrow though

Ouch! Hope you recover quick mate, my Dad performed the same operation on a bloke we took our fishing with us when I was 10 years old, I hooked him through the lip with a long shank 1/0 as I was casting out, and the barb came out just under his nose,  Dad  pushed the hook through his lip and cut off the barb with a pair of pliers, the guy just about passed out , I apologised to the bloke and he said to Dad how sorry he was that we now had to travel all the way back in so he could go to the doctor for a tetanus shot,  Dad told him no need to apologise and we would head back in as soon as we finished all the worms, by the time we got in the blokes lip looked like he had way to much botox and never asked to go out fishing with us again.

reminds me of a time I went fishing with my old man and neighbour at lake glenbawn 

the old neighbour jumped off he side of the boat when we came ashore and all we heard were screams

he got 2 barb hooks straight through his coin purse 

joke was on me though I had to stretch the skin while my old man pushed the barbs through. 

Thats a repressed memory I now regret bringing up
