A day out with Crazywalrus

@crazywalrus  Ted finally has some time on his hands, so we decided to go for a fish for the first time in two years, yesterday.

Launched at 7 from Manly and headed to Green to get some livies. Spent a fair bit of time looking but could only come up with some whiptails and striped trumpeter. We gave up and headed to Mud. Had another unsuccessful look for bait there but couldn't come up with the goods. Eventually settled onto mark 79 and deployed a livey each, a pillie under a float each and Ted threw a plastic on a noodle Arrowz rod with 6lb silly string.

I decided to be a bit more passive and tossed out some cuttlefish before taking a seat to wait. No sooner had I sat down and the rod buckled over and I brought in a nice grassie, going 34cm. Redeployed and got another grassie that went about 30, so released it as it was too close to risk. 2 fish in two casts - I was thinking it was going to be a hot bite. Meanwhile Ted had busted off on snags a couple of times. Then he was landing some unders along with whiptails and quite a few tuskies, one nearly legal.

Not much else was happening after a couple of hours or so. We headed off to try the same tactics at the Rous Channel. Wind was forecast to get up around 1, but failed to show on time. We enjoyed the conditions and before long the cuttlefish proved to be a winner and I landed this grassie, going 42.

 

Then we were onto a patch of tuskies, landing 3 legals between us, all around the 35 mark.

No joy on the livies nor were the mackerel playing the game, with the pillies untouched for the whole day. The wind started coming in so we headed back to Green where the wind was blowing about 12 knots and the water becoming a bit choppy. We started by landing undersized squire, then decided to search again for some livies and deploy them for the last of the day's light. Unsuccessful, we called it a day and got back to the ramp just after 6.

We didn't set the World on fire but managed a respectable feed. Was a good day to catch up with an old mate almost as grey as me. haha

You certainly get the hours up on the water and move from location to location. I'm usually too lazy to move around once i've decide a general area and fish.

Touch wood the motor gremlin is gone? So we can prove it's just a @Kat thing?

Another big day on the water, Brian. Can’t complain about tuskies and grassies for dinner. Is Ted back down this way for good?

Any day out on the water is a good day, bringing back a feed just makes it that little bit better.

It was an inviting sea for boating yesterday - flat as a tack, so we made the most of it.

I've had two proper runs without a glitch, so fingers crossed. It did run smoothly for 2 months after the last plug change though.

We did recount some silly times spent, but we were more subdued yesterday. Ted only hit me in the face with a fish once. haha

It was and I'm feeling it today. haha

Ted still hasn't left yet. lol  Delayed by doing extra work to his house.

Now they are just waiting on the house to sell and they'll be gone.

I can't decide if this means the two of you are finally starting to grow up ......... or if you're both getting too old to have the energy to play pranks and misbehave ...........

Never have to grow up, it's the growing old that can't be stopped unfortunately. Planking on the motor was mentioned but Ted didn't feel like falling in again.
