Hey just starting a thread we can do some rough planning for the idea of going down to the Gc area for a day out flicking lures around! targetting bream, queenies, trevs, and maybe jacks or some other sporting species. Anyone is welcome, Im still not 100% sure if i can go lol, but ill know by later this week. Brain storm time!.

Yeah forgot to mention this will be lures only, Sp's, hardbaits, and flies, well anykind of artifical bait :P. As Tom said, maybe we can all chip in $2 or something (maybe more) and then have a prise for the biggest bream, or best fish all up. Somthing like that to make an awsome day out!

Yeah mate, I'm sure anyone's welcome but if there's a few of us we'll just be land based. Any good spots you know of?? I'm sure we'll be doing a fair bit of exploring.

Have you got a light spinning outfit? That'd be the go for the sort of fishing we're hoping to do.

found this bit of info on another site...

"I fish the canals in the nerang very often. The canals around monaco street hold alot of bream and flathead. further up river there are some nice canals on the northern bank of the river that can really fire on a high tide with some good trevs, flatties and bream being regular cathes along there. I have also seen some nice jacks in this area"

Dan i think we should just go, fish of the day going on size/rareness.. who knows someone might catcha 40cm bream and win it :P. But i reckon we move around abit, try around the bridge eddies for trevs and jacks, find a few nice rockwalls that hold bream, cod, trevally and a jack or 2. Id be happy to catch anythin, itd be a good day out fish or not :).

Arrrgggghhh i needa stock up my lures bad :D

Hey mate they are both a very agressive species, Gold bommers seem to be a very popular lure for both species, so are gold xraps, but they will take a range of lures, any size, but the 70mm - 130mm is usually best for targeting them i think. Any soft plastic, should get a trevallys attention if hes hungry, ive got them on 2inch grubs.

transport to the goldy is easy, trains go down to robina and busses from there to anywhere central. heaps of camp grounds to pull an overnita but most keen guys just sleep around the bridges and soak a bait, ill give ya the tip night and pre dawn is the only time to bother

You're right but I'm sure we'll still have fun in the day catching tiddlers. I'd imagine jacks in the day time would be very rare there.

If we get down there at like 5am we might get some ok fish if we're lucky.

Thought I'd bump this up.

Kev and myself are going for sure. Are you still keen Bri?

What about you young fellas??

I was thinking a good place to start might be around the casino/ convention centre. I was there for work last year and it looked like it had some fishy spots. Anyone tried there??
