hey all. on monday im going to tangalooma with the olds for the day. i was just wondering if fishing is legal there and if it is, what stuff i should use e.g what type of set up and bait and anything else that i should use. thanks for any help

Yes it is. Fishing around the wrecks should be sweet. I have snorkled there and there were plenty of cod and trevs and stuff.

Use some surface lures.

If you are fishing from the beach try some metal slugs. You should be bale to get a fair way towards the wrecks with one around 20grams or so.

There is also a jetty, but im not sure how this fishes.

be prepared to catch butter bream one after the other...:laugh:

there is heaps of fish there, pretty gunshy due to all the swimmers. weatehr dependent try on the outside of the wrecks and flick lightly weighted... well anything will work... back at the wrecks and you should pick up a feed of bream. there are heaps of whiting on the banks around there too and off the beach. good luck.

i went there before christmas and had a ball fishing around the wrecks with lures in my yak.

but be prepared if your fishing wrecks bring heavy line!!! i got smoked 4 times on 25lb leader and 22lb mainline

You will probably be hard pushed to get a cast from the shore to the wrecks with out hitting a boat on a long weekend as it gets pretty crowded there plus that would a long cast

I'll say, when I was a kid and competed in the school fishing comps over there, it was instant disqualification to go in the water more than knee deep. - For good reason!

There is a small artificial reef (sunken tinnie) marked by old pylons jsut out from the beach where the dolphin resort keeps their tinnies, skies etc on the beach. i believe it is surrounded by the dugong explorer and usually a formosa centre console.
