Thats been bone dry for a while so good to see it get going again, i hear somersets at 74% aswell so hopefully it will fill and overflow into wivenhoe, Wivenhoes also getting a fair bit of rain aswell.

Somerset was 72.5% at 8.30 this morning and rising fast so i'd presume 74-75%

Combined dam levels will be 32% by tonite and 35% by end of the week.

Hi guys,

Just curious about 1 thing. Brisbane areas seem to only be serviced by 3 dams, Wivenhoe, Somerset and North Pine. What about those dams and lakes like Awoonga, Atkinsons, Hinze, Cressbrook, Kurwongbah etc ? Aren't they all linked somehow? And wouldn't the average water levels be higher if they were all combined? Do enlighten me.

there for other places and not water for brisbane thats why they dont have them linked together and i think kurwongbah would be to small to take water from

seq water are planing to reopen another 3 smaller dams aroound brisbane for times of big drought. Appartenly there are a couple up behind enoggera army base and kurwongbah.

They have started or are ready to release water from sommerset into wivanhoe. This came from a neighbour that works for them.

They will also have mobile de sal plants in the mouth of the Brisbane river if times get really desperate.

Hope the desals not at the mouth of the river straight at the poo chute . Would rather it offshore.

They are building a water pipeline that will do just that:)

Hinze is for the Gold Coast mainly, and others are only very small and service the local population for irrigation. Awoonga's huge though, but I think it is too far away from Brissie to really help us.

Doesnt really matter as we will be drinking recycled water soon anyway.

Hinze is loosing 6.5 thousand olympic sized swimming pools every day due to overflow over the wall, would look great in Wivenhoe!, Sooner that pipes finished the better.

Whats the bremer like for fishing? any threadys ever caught in ther? i wonder in the history of man kind, if any1 has ever caught a bream on an artificial there, it looks pretty dirty .

Jeff F got a 30+ cm breambo there a few months back (at the junction from memory). Can't recall if it was on a lure though.

yeah i remember that, 35cm i think and on chicken.. im talking into the brememer river, past the junction, ive heard they used to get bass in the bremer..

No idea then pinkey. I lived in Ippy in the early seventies and the Bremer has always looked like it does now. :X

In the seventies it was all catfish, eels and sharks. How things have changed (not):laugh:
