New Rod and Reel!

After trying SP for the first time on the week end I soon realised my old rod was nowhere near being up to the job (my first 8ft rod as a kid 25 years ago).

So after a good win at jupiters I had some spare $$, I went to BCF yesterday and bought a Berkley / Abu Garcia Dropshot 7ft 2 in carbon rod and a Daiwa Luxel-V 2500 spinning reel

I spent a bit more than I wanted but, I wanted a setup just for SP. The reel was 50% off and he threw in some pretest plataypus line to sweeten the deal.

Have I got a good setup....

Finally I opened the reel and what a nice bit of gear, but the instructions are all in Japenesse, any clue where I can get an english version from?

$89 for the Rod with a bag http://www.bcf.com.au/catalogue_pdf_dir/Rods_43.pdf

$50 for the reel (cheaper than I saw on ebay) http://www.bcf.com.au/catalogue_pdf_dir/Fish_8.pdf

$00 Pretest Clear 3kg http://www.bcf.com.au/catalogue_pdf_dir/Line_10.pdf [img size=364]http://www.australianfishing.com.au/media/kunena/attachments/legacy/images/Luxel_005.jpg

Yeah man Jig heads and Plastics to go with your new rod.

You cant have to many as for some reason soemtimes a favourite color wont do anything and as soon and you change over BANG fish. Also different weights are important.

Also a couple of cheap Hard Bodies could not go astray! :)

OK the dropshot is a 2-4kg rod...

Here is a picture of the SP and other Lures I already have...

I have only every got tailor on the silver spinners.. never got anything else on a lure.

I have yet to try the SP's..

The prawn, the purple one and the orange one in the top right I found at a boat ramp cleaning station...

Which line should I use the pretest or the Penn 10x. [img size=398]http://www.australianfishing.com.au/media/kunena/attachments/legacy/images/DSCF0998.JPG

My dropshot is the same size, but probably a fair bit older! its a pig for casting compared to my el cheapo jarvis walker, its to stiff in the tip! maybe 20 foot less distance for the same rig. (or was stiff until one of the boys broke the tip off it at the BRC newstead park do!, its even stiffer now, but it still makes a good bait rod)

Mick: Use braid as a main line and use the pretest and 10x for leader. You will notice the difference from braid to mono if you've been using braid for a long time or vise versa. How heavy is the penn 10x?

Troy

Both lines are 3kg mono (6lb)
