Anybody know of some good software for doing a fishing log/diary?

Microsoft One Note (Office 2007 suite) might be able to provide some useful things with its sections and group features.

I've always considered writing an application for it, but didn't have a serious think as to what would be required etc.

yeah. Microsoft Access would be a good place to store that too.

id say after a while of filling out logs etc etc, you would get it in your head when and what to fish a particular area with/when and then wouldnt bother filling anymore in for that spot

I'm surprised there's not a good online tool for it somewhere, but I don't see anything in sourceforge or freshmeat.

It probably wouldn't be too hard to make a blog (wordpress or something ) plugin to do it.

UNT: I think access would be the simplist thing to use. essentially all you'd need is a database which is what access is good for.

This is probably a bit lame but kreel & I use google maps. It's more visual and it's simple enough to mark spots and add notes about tides, fish caught etc to each spot.

yeah mate, but it would be good to have something web based, easy to share. Altho I guess you can use an access db via odbc.

that's actually a really good idea! would love to use a tool that joins google maps with a database.

I am gooing to do someting in Access, when dnoe I will share the file for all..

I will base it on that other template for field collection then upload to the DB...

I need a list of fish you can / will catch in the SEQ Area...

go on dpi website then look in the fisheries section for the details of all species.

there is a great aussie fishlog program that costs about $100 to buy

it even gives the soluna tables tide times and fish id but i cant remember what it's called,i'll try to find it and put it up

I have grown it a bit already..

It can also track you rod reels lures, type of bait you use etc...

Looking pretty cool..

I will try to add a way of storeing pics along with the record too...

would people want these features

Ok heres a screen shot... Still in work

There will be similar screens for your Rods, Reel etc

Once you have add data to them they will be auto feild in the Fish Log..

what sort of queries can you do Mick?

It says its read only so i cant edit it to put in my rods and reels and lures?

so change it ... make sure you use it un-zipped

right click on th unzipped file and remove the read only tag

I have and when its unzipped i try to open it and it says microsoft cant open this file because its located outside your intranet microsoft will not open this file due to potential security risks???
