Drummer on the goldie

Went for a fish this afternoon down the gold coast, at the currimbin estuary near the freeway bridge.

Pumped some yabbies and then went to have a crack at some whiting for dinner.

Only one undersized whiting, loads of undersized bream and a tarwhine, plus I landed a 30cm drummer. I thougt was a little wierd as i have only ever caught drummer's off rock headlands.

Are they often in water this shallow ( estuaries )?

All fish were released.

Blackfish or Luderick is more than likely what u caught.

Drummer are mainly found in the ocean.

Yeah Luderick frequent estuaries. Although they are often caught on sea cabbage, they do also occasionally take yabbies and worms.

I have also seen a couple caught on plastics.
