yeah, also i got the drag tested. the little 100a can lift 5kilo dumbell disc with ease and when the drag's really cranked up, i couldn't pull line out of the reel without getting my hand cut.

but well, donno how long i gotta wait till next session. EXAMS SUCK!!!

the action of some lures will not be as strong as when they carried light hardware but i've tried my best to minimise the impact of heavy tackle. i've put oversized rings in the lures i'll throw on this gear and i will use a jerking retrieve rather than just winding them in so that they can still entice hits when carrying heavy hardware.

Lipless Cranks are the best lures for using heavy leader. Their actions are really strong and you can tie a uni straight on.

thanks pinkey. the TN60 is definitely threadfin proof,i casted it for ages not a single touch but as soon as i put my VT65 with even heavier rings and hooks on, it got me a m+ and it's lost next cast to something unstoppable with that rig.

i was using 30lb fireline and 60lb leader and i really locked up the drag so all my fish actually darted away with full speed when releasing. dan's fish went through a longer fight but with 15lb powepro on, fight's not too long so all fish swam away happily.

yeah, personally i won't use 10lb for m+ threadfin cuz most will die after a prolonged fight.

but i've seen and experienced getting 70-80cm ones on bream gear and they swam away without a problem after landed. still i'd keep fishing heavy for them

Gee if you can fish that heavy and still get a quality fight, why would you fish lighter! Kev didnt you tell me you got busted off on 60lb leader! Thats awesome. Id say if you can get done on that poundage best to keep things heavy!

yep it's not a stunt fishing game with those fish. I won't use my BC on them it's too light. 15lb of drag and 20lb braid is minimum.

yep angus. those fish don't play fair, lol, they tear drag off my BC like crazy when i had 20lb leader on. even when i went up to 60lb and thumb the reel like crazy, those fish still made some good runs. well, maybe i shouldn't try to stop them when they r running since they r not smallish fish. meteries do have power

just striped 30m off the spool and put 60lb wind on leader.

DC's filled with 15lb powerpro and 20lb 1.8m leader.
