hit up NPD this morning with a mate who has never fished for bass with lures before... started at Forgans Cove with no success so moved around closer to bullockys rest where first cast i got smashed but managed to get off in the grass

then not long after my mate hooked up.. his first bass on a lure measuring 40cm.. not long after he followed it up with another little guy

moved around to bullockys and after a short time we came across a nice little school of bass, my mate landed another two so it was now 4 to nil... decided id change to the same lure he had just in a slightly different colour, first cast bang solid hit but no hook up, second cast bang yep im on and managed a nice little 44cm bass... mate landed another two before it was my turn again...this time i could tell it was a much better fish, fought it for 3 or 4 minutes before bringing in my first NPD 50cm fish.

measured exactly 50cm to the fork and 53cm over all

after that my mate landed another nice one, his new PB at 43cm

then my turn again at 46cm

after that it went quiet and only managed one other little guy before we decided it was time to head home

tally for the day was:

ME: 3 bass - best 53 overall length

SIMON: 8 bass - best 43 overall length

was good to finally get onto some fish and both managed PB's

the lure that did the damage was an ecogear VT55
