Grease Nipples

What am I doing wrong?

Every time I put the grease gun onto my Bearing buddies the gun gets stuck on the nipple.

The Grease gun is a you beaut big dollor gun that a lot of Machinery fellas use.

It just seems to get stuck?? I have ripped a few hex nipples out and had to replace the flexi tube on the Gun

Any tips on nipple removal:blush:

a mate had the same problem ... we just got rid of the bearing buddys ;) and do regular maintenance so no trouble at all.. its easy to do a check every so often ... there is a thread here somewhere on bearing maintenance .. full of good info ..

I backed the nut off at the end of the grease gun and it seems to release the jaws of the nipple bit.

Maybe thats the trick

I had the same problem,every time I tried to remove the gun from the nipple on the bearing buddy I would pull the lot out. So my mate fixed the prob for me, on my original metal dust caps he soldered a nipple to them. Now I just put greese in till it spews out, sometimes a little bit of greese keeps spewing out but eventualy it dries up.

bearing dont need to be smothered in grease or does the hub need to be packed with the gunk, they just need to be packed properly in the first place. its only the bearings themselves that need lubrication as this is where the friction is, a fitter told me this and he used to do bearings on power generating turbines.... excess grease is not at all neccessary ....

I agree with Maxi, except I make sure everything is at least coated with a film of grease just to be on the safe side to stop any chance of surface rust. (not packed solid!)

Mmmmmm reminds me I need to regrease my nipples.

But I wont be packing no bearings ;-)
