Help with catching a Jewfish from the beach.

My current goal is to try and get a Jew. Having watched adventurebound and "Jew off the beach" from http://www.coastwatch.com.au/Fishing/FishingVideoData-631/ I am keen to spend a few nights freezing in the hope of getting a Jew, but will accept a few salmon :whistle:

The gear I have for the trip are.

11' graphite Penn with Windcast x5500 spooled with 10kg Black Magic Mono

Black Magic KS 8/0 hooks

Black magic 60lb supple leader

Ezy rig sinker clips to attach undetermined sinkers.

From the coast watch video I have summarised the following info for the benefit of anyone on AFO wanting to get a jew also.

STRUCTURE

- Low tide, jews feeding on rock platforms

- High tide, Beach gutter with exit

WINDS

- 1st night of SE change

BAIT (pinned first through flesh side then back through skin 1-2inches down)

- Fresh fillet of mullet

- Fresh fillet of Tailor is best

MONTHS

- August-November

MOON

- Dark nights around new moon - between sunset and moonrise

- Just after full moons- between sunset and moonrise

TACKLE

- 6 ounce sinker

- 15 inches of 45lb leader

- 9/0 french

WINDOW OF OPPORTUNITY

- Jew's hold for 2hrs in packs of 6-7, at minimum in pairs

I am most likely to use the info above and circle hooks pinned once through a whole fillet (as per adventurebound)

My questions are:

1) Does this plan sound plausible?

2) Will I need some other gear?

3) Where are they likely to be this weekend. The coastwatch video was filmed near Coolum

4) Any other tips, I have never beach fished all night before.

if you can catch beachworms a big knot of worms works best in the beack gutters

but its a bit expensive to buy that many worms if you cant catch them your self

All of that sounds good.

2 things you will still need :

* TONS of PATIENCE

* A Grapnel sinker to hold you in the gutter if the sweep is strong

if you can find that beach gutter on the southern side and close to a rocky headland/point/wall this can be an added positive.

if you follow the coast road(and keep a lookout) up the sunshine coast there are some very good spots to try
