Shark Fishing

Anyone got some good spots to try and catch bull sharks in the bris river??????? Dont give up ur secret spots just any first timer spots.... cheers keen to try my luck this week some time.

Hey mate you can catch bullsharks in the brisbane river Litterly ANYWHERE up to the weir. Just use a 5 - 30cm fleshy bait preferably live but dead works aswell and a wire trace in deep water and your away.. best spots are the ones with a clear bank to land the shark and deep water, which is most spots in the river.

At the colmslie jetty I got hooked up with a 1.9m bull shark. I had to burley up.I used half a mullat for bait.

Pretty good answer pinkey.

You might find that your lower reaches have larger sharks. Probably less crabs (I remember the junction... there isn't a river bed, just crabs!!)

Bait selection can play a part in how quickly you get hit by crabs, or if it sits there undisturbed until the sharks get there.

River/creek mouths can be good

Use heavy weight to keep it still and not drifting! That's if, doing it that way is your thing.

If your going specifically for a shark i wouldnt bother with a dead bait. Go livies and you can catch not only bullies, but other awesome preditory fish as well!

i find if crabs are an issue (don't go to the beat on a friday night... hahahahaha!!!!) i float the baits under a balloon. only works in the shallower areas of the river but worked well enough in the classic! :woohoo:

So terry you being the shark king your advice is to sit the bait on the bottom?

I caught a little one on the weekend but i have been floating the bait with a balloon

Might have to have a go at weighting it down...

With the baits Terry uses, the only way he can fish them is on the bottom:D

i put my livies on the bottom and use a heavy enough sinker so they dont move...was at bald hills park (pine river) and saw 4 bullies swimming round today..only armed with poppers i couldnt raise any interest..but they are around:)
