Tallebudgera River

Decided to go to Tallebudgera River in sight of some Mangrove Jack. Took a range of lures recommened by a tackle shop in Southport as I have never caught these fish before.

Went to a little spot just off Tallebudgera Creek Road, was fishing for about 20 minutes when my parter sliped over while trying to unsnag my brand new lure. He cut open he toe and it was bleeding really bad. After washing away all the blood we could see a large piece of shell stuck deep in his toe. We then drove around looking for a doctor, after an hour we found one in southport that was open. My partner went in and had to get 3 needles to numb the area to get the shell peice out and for antibiotics. His toe is now wrapped up and it can get wet for 5 days! What a great days fishing.... not :dry:

We have now decided to buy a tank and get a pet mangrove jack instead!

Oow not good. My daughter cut her toes badly last night, was a bit scary for a few minutes until i got the bleeding stopped. She then proceeded to milk it for all it was worth.

yep. Good pair of ankle height reef shoes at Anaconda Logan for $30 i think. The full wetsuit fabric ones the won't let annoying sand get in.

ouch! jacks are about 120 -160 bucks for one about 2 inches long. shop around there not cheap but I do know of a shop that pretty much always has them so if ur keen pm me and il let you know, good luck with the sore toe

they won't let you forget that next time you go to jack fishing. mate, try and get back out there. and angus was right, buy some reef boots.
