By the amount of emotions that i have read on the web site, why have we not got some one in the running for State Government, and if we have, we all well let me put it better if fishers of QLD have the vote for him or her,another major problem is when voting we don't look at preferences, so if the party we vote for does not get in then the preferences go to Greens or what ever, this is how the Greens get is all the time, and yes i have done it to not looking but never again the FUN POLICE WILL NEVER GET ME AGAIN, personally i think that whoever i vote for that is were my vote should stay not be past onto someone i totally hate. the Shooters Party has a person in Parliament and guess what they just about get what they want, some areas that they were pushed out of they can now shoot in again, all we need is someone to get elected and things will pass our way and we will beat the FUN POLICE at their own game, really think about your vote at the next election, how much more ground do you wish to lose to these cretins because this is only the beginning they will destroy fishing and any industry involved in fishing

Yep squidgie...a representitive in each level of government would do the trick, only problem is that if you go in as a new party such as the fishing party and so on....people think that is all you are interested in, and dont understand that as a minority you wont have sweeping changes that will follow through to law....and the label is 'fishing' party. Just like the sex party...yes there is one....they are about allowing responsible adults to access online what they like as long as it doesnt involve illegal activities (child porn etc), and advocate the protection of children....but they are seen as a swingers/free sex party because that is the way they are portrayed and people just cant get over the 'sex' component. They will never have a prime minister because they dont have the nationwide numbers for each electorate and they want to have a voice in people freedoms. A better approach would be to unite several diferent recreational groups to form a party...only problem is each group thinks they are more important than the other and there will be a lot if in fighting....or better still, have several like minded individuals run as indipendants on key issues...and once voted in help each other along to get policies passed through....maybe form an Indipendants Alliance of Australia or something like that...that'd give the major parties something to crap about.

Squidgee they tried last time, but there was a lot of infighting, and personal agenda's. Also 2 separate mobs trying to get the fisho vote, whilst being less than supportive of each other!

Last time there was a big Federal influence happening, so local issues did not get much of a run, (Ie People were either for or against Howard, so that influenced their state vote) a Fishing related candidate could be in with a good shot this time around, but alas, no one seems to be putting their hand up.

If someone like Nugget ran, (Passionate about fishing, but otherwise politically neutral) I reckon they would get in.

Glad you said 'someone like' nugget.....I agree with you. Ive got too much happening to be committed to something like that But I would definately support someone who can pick policies between the majors and suggest a few in the process in return for support.....as long as they aren't radicals and fairly balanced in their views for the good of the majority (people, environmental, commercial and industrial)...ballance the lot, not lean towards any individual element.

Guy's i agree with what you all have said and yep there is a few body's that can join and fight a common foe, and yep there is a few people in there for there own let say big heads and not for the fishers they are suppose to represent,these are the guy's that if you are a member of you should vote them out and get someone in that will fight for all, the whole problem is there are to many splinter groups who for some way or another think they are fighting the right way, but there not to many spokes in a wheel and no hub, (to many fighting against each other and not a as one body) were as the Greens have one agenda and that is to destroy fishing and all associated industries, they have all the adds on TV and Radio, they are spoken about on all web sites, and the newspapers love them, now that is publicity, were we as fishers are seen to be meek and mild and get bugger all publicity, Nugget and i can say heaps about Marine Parks on radio but who is listening to a fishing show,FISHERS NOT THE GENERAL PUBLIC, we need to be heard loud and clear all over the shop, we need papers to take notice we need to get the public involved not just fishers we need to hold rally's we need to speak up because quite frankly we will loss all our fishing grounds, guy's i have watched and seen so much taken from us enough is enough time for action is now not later, later may be to late, gee i do get a bit carried away, but I'm dame passionate about fishing it's what i do, i live it a breath it i make a living from it
