freshwater gudgeons

hi all,just after sum advice.The fishing spot i have been fishing is full of those little gudgeons and as i havent fish for bass with bait before, some what im asking is, are they any good for bait?what type of rig should i use when baiting for bass? whats the best way to catch gudgeons?I have heard that shrimp r good but dont know where or how to get them. any help would be good.cheers Dazz

gudgoens for bait....ya can use the norm shrimp trap to get em or run a fine mesh net in the weeds.bass will eat em but a ultra small/fine hook is needed.....heard an old fella tell me once if ya throw a handful of the gudgoens first them lob ya livey in with em is the go...we tried this up the coast and got a few tarpon...dont see why it wouldnt work for bass. and i think the little gudeons with red tails are called fire tail gudgeons?....remember seeing somthing on t.v ages ago and a guy was saying that they are an important part of the bass' diet in the dams.....

I was thinkin of a bigger hook and put half a dozen alive little buggers on it(should drive bass nuts!). Should i fish it with no weight or some other way as the bottom is very weedy.cheers Dazz

weight, no weight? float maybe? fishing in the caboolture river? i had all sorts of trouble of getting shrimp in there..but 100000000's of gudgeons

maybe use a pananoster rig to beat the weed....
