Shimano Curado bait cast reels, whats your opinion

Hey guys,

im thinking of grabbing a curado 200e7 BC reel adn was wondering if anyone has used these before. i have been told by quite a few people including tackle shops that shimano are the way to go when it comes to BC reels so i would rather stick with them and there reels have never let me down in the past. it will be going on my barra raider thats 6ft in length will be used as a barra, jewie & threadfin setup. It's an awesome reel kriso, really light, smooth, great casting ability and has 5kg of drag. i've got the older model and i reckon it is still a great reel but these are much better.

I'd personally go for the e5 for the species you've mentioned but it's up to you.

whats the diffrence between e5 & e7?

e5 5:1 gear ratio

e7 7:1 gear ratio

The species you've mentioned all usually prefer slower retrives and the e5 should give you a bit better cranking power.

cool then e5 it is then, i will probably switch this reel between a few rods so the slower retreive will come in handy with some fishing that i have in mind.

Love em. I've also got an old one. Absolutely bullet proof. Caught my 115cm Barra on mine no worries.

Ferg just bought a new one from Asia as well, that makes 2 of the old ones and two of the new ones he has.

yeah mate ive got one there great, i have a e5 and highly recommend that over the e7 for the species you have mentioned

i was weighing up between the shimano curado or the revo inshore a month ago and decided to go with the inshore just cause it suited my needs. I felt the curado was a great unit, but i found the 200 a little too small for what i wanted, i thought the capacity was a little small, and I found the 300 a little too big.. lol. I would certainly get the 200 for casting smaller lures but i decided on the revo inshore for my larger lures, inshore fishing and for barra and larger species.

i have the older dpv one and still really like it, i have the new calais 200asv but still like the older curado

does it matter if you use it in saltwater

i would definately go e5 for the species you have mentioned, the curado is a great reel and it is fine to use in the saltwater
