queensland 03 and 07/02-2007 Report

G’day,

After a night at the Versace hotel on the Gold Coast, I convinced my girlfriend that a nice stroll along the Southport seaway would be a good way to top off the weekend.

Lucky for me, I had a nice lure-casting outfit in the boot of the car, which I put to good use. After several casts I secured a “happy momentâ€Â, which was arguably smaller than my SX40 lure. My first fish on a hard body.

Needless to say, the kid next to me had much more luck using an unweighted Pilly, floated on the edge of the seaway. He landed a nice Jack.

On the basis of my success from the weekend (and a day off), I was keen to give it another go, and headed out to the rocky shores at Sandgate this morning. I couldn’t believe my luck when I landed a small tailor, bream and a small cod!

It's so easy to pick up a flick stick and throw a lure - not so easy to catch fish - you gotta use you rod the fight way - so well done newly converted flicker.
