queensland trolled up ooglies

with the threat of running into floaties in the bay and the dirty fresh river the obvious choice for a midweek session was offshore,

so headed out in a mates boat with the trolling gear packed in on a good forecast, bay was a bit dirtier than normal in the sth but not too bad and didnt see any big floaties thankfully.

didn't take too long once at location to pick up a strike on a big rapala, instantly recognisable by the smashing headshakes and fast runs as a target specimen (wahoo)

Got this one in pretty quick on a strong drag so wasn't an especially exciting fight apart from the first moments but was a decent fish at around 12-13kg

Didn't take anymore photos for the rest of the day but other catches include a decent table size yellowfin and a very large mac tuna, about as big as they come. Also got smoked doing some bottom bashing on a cod spot by a true beast, got friction burn on both thumbs trying to hold its runs on very heavy drag with thick braid. Think it was too big to fit in any of the holes down there as usually the smaller ones brick you without much running but this one peeled heaps of drag before busting the rig

Don't let yourself get caught thinking there won't be submerged stuff wide already. Nice wahoo, shame the gear wasn't a tad lighter as the first run is usually a screamer. Sounds like it was a fun day out.
