1st time in Coomera river

Hi all,

Need some advice, My mate and I are kayaking tomorrow (Saturday) in the coomera river, and its our 1st time.

We both want to catch our 1st jack. Will be fishing dawn till 9am. Where is a good spot to unload the Kayak? And not to far to paddle. 3km max

BTW - We both will be wearing our AFO shirts, so say hi if you see us on the water.

head up to the hope island boat harbour all the walls around there are holding some good fish .poppers till the sun gets up should see u some good fish once the sun hits the water try shallow to deep divers along the walls...good luck

if tidal flow wears you out you could try the lake. There is a boat ramp there and you should be early enough to not be bothered by ski lice. By-catch of trevs and bream a possibility too. There is a bit of a rocky natural weir to the right of the ramp thats worth a go. A few species ambush their prey around there

A mate and I are launching at the ramp under the m1 at 430 and will be fishing the canals in hope of a Jack as a few have been caught there lately.

John Siganto Reserve, Gawler Place, Upper Coomera. Its not far to paddle to the lake from the M1 ramp either.

Tomca - That lake (John Siganto Reserve) area looks good! Most likely will be fishing there.

I think you guys were just setting up as my mate and I hit the water, there's plenty of good fish is the Coomera so dont be put off by your first trip as it's just a matter of sussing out where the fish are in the river at any given time.
