queensland Emperor and Snapper at Peel

Hard to get a good day on the bay lately so had high hopes for Peel this morning.

-Kept 2 grass emperor (one a PB at 39cm) and 3 small snapper.

-Had a good fight with at least 3 small sharks. Reef sharks I think. about 1m-1.5m long. black tips on tail. Kept bighting off 80lb leader so we didn't get any pics.

-And landed a huge catfish, 2nd week in a row.

nice little feed there mate. One of the grassies is a good size for the bay.

Yeah, never tried emperor before. Often catch 20cm ones at peel so I'd been hoping for a legal one to come up sometime. Didn't expect my 1st legal to be such a nice one.

Water was pretty flat most of the morning.

Got down to 4knots for a while, and any wind that did show up was mostly southerly.

I was planning to go peel but ended up at four beacons and than mud.

The beacons were quite hooked on twice on live pike but busted off. Wire trace n nothing touched it. Came back to mud and n got 4 legal sweetlip.

nice work mate..was deckie for shane69 & we managed several legal sweetlip biggest just under 40cm..looks like you did a hell of alot better, very solid sweetlip mate!
