With the amount of comercial rods on the market Rod building is a dying art

To build a custom stik nowadays would cost you a small fortune.

Blank selection well there is none compared to times gone past

I recall when the blank section out numbered the completed rods.

and when under binding and diamond binding where only done on custom hand made rods :woohoo:

today most rods are like that straight off the shelf for less than you would buy the blank.

No wonder we don't bother any more

Ray got my Loomis as a blank from USA and had it built for me by John Ford, it was a great rod until I caught it between a big mangrove and the hull of the boat. Had it repaired, not the same, it had been to badly damaged (dang high modulus graphite!) But its on the wall!

A broken blank if your lucky means a reconfigured rod what was a good light lure tosser usually ends up a short stroker with all guides repositioned to suit the new shortened blank :pinch:

I've never seen or been able to get a broke rod back too the same
