back when i was a young lad i used to race bmx and was sponsored by pedal power and Milo and won numerous qld and Australian titles. i was due to go to the worlds in America but 3 week before, i had a bad crash breaking 3 ribs and both arms and having plates put in both arm putting me out for 4 months. at this stage due to fitness levels, i gave racing away and got into free style. it didn’t take long and i was sponcered by specialised. 3.5 yrs ago i broke L4 and L5 vertebrae and gave up freestyle. 4 weeks ago, i got sick and tired of looking at my bikes sitting their, i didn’t have the heart to sell them so i decided to start it back up again, and believe me i am enjoying every min of it.

so my question is, does anyone on the forum or their kids ride free style and keen to meet up for a ride, dirt or park

just talking about this the other day,

My Son is with Beenliegh, Browns Plains, Ipswich, Pine rivers, Redlands and Logan BMX clubs and get's into freestyle as well. Keeps us busy.

My plan is to be racing again by the end of the year,

I bought a z flex for my 5 year old son recently and got out my skateboard and ripped out a kickflip, first go! last time I rode a skatie was at least ten years ago......I'm 37 now and I've broken enough bones to know not to push my luck. It never came naturally to me and I had to really try to get any good.

Nice one Max. Pretty much the same when it came to skating. A few years ago, I was in toys r us and popped an ollie on one of the boards. A little kid followed me around for 10 mins waiting for me to do something else. :P

Kurt, been looking at a Specialized P24 to hit up Underwood Park as it's just around the corner from my place. Might get the fitness up a little more first though.

I grew up on the Browns plains bowl back in the day when it was just the big and small bowl. Spent all my spare time there, when they built the rest of the skate park it was basically home. When I was in year ten 1998, I got offered a spot in the Xgames down in Sydney in the vert ramp, but got told no by the olds and missed out  still pissed about it. I have often thought about getting back into it but can't be Fd. Its fishing now that consumes my life.

I used to ride a lot of the dirt stuff on a mountain bike especially downhill but sometimes we would hit up daisy hill and then play on the track there at underwood if no one was racing on it. was a struggle getting a 5"+ suspension bike to clear the bigger ones though much more comfortable if you didnt land smooth.

I feel awkward on the 20inch wheels but i see the fun in it. i still have a trials 26inch here somewhere which is a fun little bike to flick around weighing 10kg or less.

Recently borrowd a mates bike and have struggled to get back into it with fishing consuming most of my time, heading to canada soon so i might change that...
