I never knew that it was possible to catch salmon that big in the Brisbane River

Louis, I went fishing there for my first time last friday, i saw three salmon landed that night! They are an amazing fish. People would pay to go on a charter to catch them! Check the Brisbane River Fishing report in this forum, even i who have a lot of faith in our brown river have been amazed at what has been caught.

What a great fish and in the Brisbane River as well. I reckon most people (me included) never knew there were quality fish in the Brisbane River.

I am only new to Brisbane area anyway, but that certainly is encouraging.

Does anyone knoe if these fish are brackish or freshwater aswell as salt? im keen to get one for my tank. they would amke the coolest species

I was expecting the fish I caught to be un-edible due to the badd press the river receives, but the threadfin 'flathead' caught the other day was one of the nicest I've tasted.

Wow this is an old thread!

But the elaborate for some of the new members, threadfin have become a more and more common catch since this thread was made about a year and half ago! Looking forward to seeing a few weighed in at the 2007 Brisbane River Classic in December.
