queensland Bait spots goldy

Hey can any one recommend any good spots to throw a cast net for live ones around the goldy? Or good spots to try for squid? Cheers

hey mate, i used to catch a heap of herring at the tidal gates at bond uni, watch the wire mesh on the bottom though, it will shred your net, hope this might help

The spit breakwalls at night hold squid and yakkas if you anchor up with a light shining down into the water and use a bait jig should land heaps.

herring should be around any artifical light source or near the rocks at wavebreaks i think

For herring mate, just find a bridge pylon or any pontoon or anything like that. They really are everywhere but sometimes someone else may have been there before you and can be a bit harder.

Hi sehrguht, what are the squid numbers like there?? good enough for a feed?? Is there any weed banks in the vicinity that they might also hang off??

I was over at crab island saturday morning and a few squid there in the weed beds, but i had no squid jigs.

Thanks mate ill be stoked if i can find some that close to home, i have promised the kids to take them squiding but was thinking might have to go to Brissy.
