Hinze Dam Toga Comp 19th-20th Jan 2008

Dear AFO members.

On the 19th and 20th on January there will be a Toga Comp organised by BFo and Sports Tuition at Hinze Dam.

It will be run in a very similar way as the winter camp was.

Max Capacity will be 34 + those who bring their own boats.

Price

$130 If using your own boat.

$180 If using one of Steves.

Remember this includes (if needed) camping permits, fishing permits, boats, dinner, morning tea, fishing gear, live shrimp etc.

Prizes will include some top range fly fishing gear and we will revisit fly fishing at the camp with Leeann Payne.

This also ties in with the 2008 fish of the month which is of course Saratoga!

This one of mine came out of the brown water at back of hinze - that's why is so golden.

Yeah, here are the photo's, but even then I reckon the colours in real life were much more vivid!.

close up of colour pattern, every scale has an iridescent pink dot on it. Quite spectacular.

This is one of 6 we hooked up (only landed two) in the spot Brian put a picture of, only ever caught them that one day, and the snag we were fishing is about 10 ft out of water when I was last there, never mind have been told of a new secret toga spot buy a local:P might even go and give it a go tomorrow if I wake up in time

Guys on the weekend past, one of the guys on Steves Charters caught a 90cm Toga on an SP from Hinze Dam.

Cant see it in the events but i am in probably in my own boat.Hope we get some rain before the event as the numinbah endramp is unuseable at the moment and it is a long way around to the ramp at Little nerang Road.May be better if it was a canoe and yak event.

I am helping Steve out with a Charter this Sunday. We are using a ramp he has not used in ages. We will see how it goes.

yeah i helped out for the father and son weekend on the 6th oct. The ramp theyve been using if really hard to use now. too muddy. I saw the pic and the spoke to the guy who caught it. Mate he was wrapped!

Would everyone be interested in camping? We have secured a fantastic spot with running creeks and a large under cover area for cooking.

This weekend will be really fun and i hope to see you all there.

It will be elsewhere.

Closer to the dam though. Where the horses riding usually occurs. Apparantly a lot nicer. Grassy paddocks, flowing steams etc.
