bite period?

hey guys, can someone tell me how a bite period is calculated? i just heard dave downey say there was a 100% bite period at 1pm saturday. surely anytime around dusk or dawn has to be better than 1pm.

dave downey only caught his first snapper a year ago and he teels people how to catch them and a lot of other stuff is pretty rong that he says but i dono bout bite period

try fishing the major and minor bite periods for each day they are based on moonrise and set times they work

Bill Hohepa (NZ fishing guru and developer of one of Jeff's aforementioned Maori fishing calendars) predicts that 11:17am Brisbane time will be excellent for an hour tomorrow. Off the top of my head, I think this may roughly correlate with the top of the incoming tide...personally, I'll be getting my feet wet around 2pm tomorrow arvo, but if anyones fishing the late morning it'd be interesting to get some feedback. Incidentally, thanks for the reminder Jeff, years ago while living in Auckland always used to follow Bill's tips, he generally got them pretty right!

buzzid, If you go to Nugget's site and click on the prediction calendar thingy on the RH side, a graph will come up showing the solunar peek (if there is one) for that particular day as well as tides etc.

I have 1 of these maroi fishing calanders in an acient fish book it refers to fishing by moon phase ive tried to follow it with varying results I'l scan and post it lol it 's called salt water fishing in NZ by RB Doogue 1954 interesting reading too
