Samsonvale's Receding Tide

The water level at North Pine Dam continues to fall, and is almost down one whole third. This morning Dino and I went for another walk and the drop in water is easily noticeable wherever you go. More shoreline to walk, and more previously submerged surprises are popping up everywhere. The fish were waiting for us again at a few different spots, not in great numbers, but finding one usually meant finding a few more. The morning was a lot warmer than previous walks and if yesterday is anything to go by, then it'll be a hot summer! Dino ended up smashing me by a whopping one fish, so tomorrow will have to be revenge ;) I'm a fierce competitor after all, haha ;)

Here's the fish!

Looks like a great session guys! Love the look of that Stradic Ci4!!! How would you rate it compared to the Rarenium?

James

I've got the same reel James. I like it cos it's got such a fast retrieve ratio (6:1), which I think helps a lot in fast moving water, like when you're casting upstream and bringing lures back with the current. Most smallish eggbeaters have ratios much less than 6:1. It's a very light reel too. I liked the feel of Daiwa spin reels better, but my wrist used to get tired turning the handle so many bloody times!

I bought 2 spare spools for my Ci4 2500 at about $60 each (another reason I used to like Daiwa reels - they often came with a spare spool), so I can use it for most of my fishing - I've got a spool loaded with 3lb, 6lb, and a 10lb spool. Beats having 3 different reels I reckon. My old Daiwa Fuego 2500 has larger diameter spools and a slow retrieve ratio (4.8:1), so I load those spools with 14lb and 20lb for heavier fishing.
