queensland Jack Season

Hi Guys,

Jack Season has started for me already this year , All fish were between 37 & 42cm

All caught on a very slow rolled Z-man DieZel's on 3/8th Jig Heads cast deep in to timber laydowns. Resulting in some awesome visual hook ups in the brackish water

Still the whole season to up grade your PB of 52cm Won't be long if you're catching numbers already.

Yeah mate been stuck on that pb for a while now.

Size does not matter too much to me as a jack is a jack big or small they still fight hard

Do you find them a tad sluggish early in the season ?

Yeah. The weather was certainly against us last weekend. 20-25knot sou easters and occasional rain made it very hard work.

Once we cracked the code on them we got 12 jacks boated in 2 days wich became very rewarding . But we had 9hrscasting with out a bite or follow before that.

Nice jacks mate, well done. Any theories on why they were all paler in colour? Assuming they were from somewhere in SEQ? (Obviously no need to divulge where ....).

Not sure why But these jacks have been coming from brackish water and water temp was 20-22c . The water in this creek was very clear and i could easily see bottom in 8ft of water.

This fish was from the same creek in march this year about 2 weeks after it flooded and water temps around 25-28c and water was stained tea tree like noosa gets in the evaglades

Perhaps water clarity is the secret then - I guess they'd stand out too much in clear water if they were bright red. Cheers for the reply.

Yeah thats right mate. I think water temp/clarity and the elements have a lot to do with it. They are temperamental all the time . I have caught them in mid july by casting zmans minnowz and letting them sit on the bottom in the structure and waiting for them to pick it up cause they are so shut down and lazy
