Quick report cos I should be working.   (Love this new emoticon lol)

A couple of weekends a go I had a crack at some mackerel in the bay. This was my second proper session targeting these guys and it was a lot of fun and turned out to be a success! Two mid 60s schoolies were boated and over a dozen more were lost. They tasted a lot better than expected too which was a bonus.

The weekend prior I did the same but only boated small schoolies. My mate hooked two solid longtail down deep on micro jigs in the northern part of the bay too which was awesome. He got wrapped around the beacon on the first one and pulled hooks on the second one

All packed up and ready for a Hervey Bay trip this Sunday weather permitting.

How do you rate the schoolies compared to spotties ?

I haven't had spotted mackerel yet. But comparing to grey mackerel the schoolies were much nicer. A whiter and less oily flesh. Delicious!
