Reel Oil

First I wanna just say merry Christmas and a happy new year to everyone. I hope you get to have a flick over the Christmas holidays. 

The real part of my question is, has anyone used reel oil and how did you find it? Did it improve the reel durability?

Ok, no one has picked up on this one.

 

I use sewing machine oil on my reels where needed and reel grease where it`s needed. I`m not big on paying for a brand name when there is an equal product for less, locally.

 

Getting long life out of a reel is more than using a drop of oil here and there.

Gad has linked to a good guide that covers all aspects of caring for a reel.

You will need both oil and grease depending on what you are lubricating. You may even wish to utilise different greases depending on what you are greasing. As an example, I use a different grease for my drags than the 'general' greasing for everything else that requires grease.

Properly servicing your reel will certain help with the longevity and performance.
