Tinnie Or Kayak

Hi guy's been looking recently to purchase either a tinnie or a kayak, I see benefits with both but only have the space for one or the other, hopefully someone can help me make up my mind....

what are your thoughs of a tinnie

Depending on budget and what you want to do.

It is nice to have a yak for skinny water fishing but if I had a choice between a tinny and a yak, a tinny opens up many more areas and you can take a friend. More cost in owning a tinny though with trailer registration etc. and of course the higher outlay upfront.

I have both, when a little extra space is required for a while, I store the yak on the tinnie. I lay some left over fence palings across the tinnie so the yak sits level. Best of both worlds

Well @Gad just found out my father in law just bought a 3.8 meter tinnie today....so I suppose I'll get a kayak and have the best of both worlds also

 that`s the way to go Danny, you are ahead already, look at the maintenance $$$ you have saved yourself.

I know...father in law is a marine mechanic anyway, so it's a win win situation

I already have one boat, but didn't even consider a yak when I bought my second, which was a tinny. I load it onto my ute which saves on trailer rego, and I got a 3hp which means no boat rego (plus I rarely paddle anywhere). I see blokes catch some awesome fish out of kayaks, but the practicality, diversity and space of a tinny are second to none.

If you go a kayak mate keep an eye on Gumtree - some great second hand packages pop up if you check regularly (daily). Couple on there now actually (I've been keeping an eye out for my brother).

@kmcrosby78 I've been looking everyday, seen a few for the $350 mark. Was thinking of even getting one of those just for when I go camping at the dams!
